Eligibility
Members should bring demonstrable expertise, practical experience or public-interest perspective relevant to the Institute's scope. Appointment is based on contribution, not willingness to lend a name.
External Advisory Council
Governance and appointment rules
A transparent framework designed to prevent the Council becoming a list of decorative names or implied endorsements. This route is intentionally excluded from search indexing while the Council is in private formation.
Appointment
Appointments require explicit written acceptance of the role, consent to public listing, a short biography and declaration of relevant interests. No implied or honorary appointment is permitted.
Term
Default appointment is two years, renewable by mutual agreement. A member may resign at any time and Raeburn may end an appointment where participation, conflicts or conduct make continuation inappropriate.
Compensation
The default founding model is unpaid unless a specific piece of work is separately agreed. Any paid relationship relevant to Institute work should be disclosed where material.
Conflicts
Members disclose relevant employment, investments, advisory roles, vendor relationships and other interests that could reasonably affect a topic. Recusal may be required for particular reviews.
Confidentiality
Members must protect confidential information shared for legitimate review. Confidential access does not authorise use of client data, trade secrets or personal information outside the agreed purpose.
Review attribution
A member is named as reviewer only if they actually reviewed the specified material and consent to attribution. Review means challenge/input, not certification or endorsement unless expressly stated.
Independence
Members are free to disagree with Raeburn. Research outputs should not suppress a material dissent merely to preserve a commercial narrative.
Conduct
Members are expected to act lawfully, professionally and respectfully and to avoid using the Council title in a misleading way.
Public register
For each consenting member, the site should disclose name, relevant expertise, appointment period, concise role description and material conflicts where appropriate.
