Most transformation problems are not really “AI problems”.

They are problems of systems, process, data, governance, ownership and visibility. We diagnose those first so technology solves the right thing.

Fragmented Systems

Critical work spread across disconnected platforms, spreadsheets and manual handoffs.

Poor Data Visibility

Duplicated, stale or inaccessible data makes decisions slower and less reliable.

Process Complexity

Workflows have evolved without clear ownership, standards or a reliable end-to-end view.

Administrative Drag

Skilled people spend too much time on repetitive coordination, re-keying and follow-up.

Underused Technology

Existing platforms are poorly configured, duplicated or not delivering the value expected.

Automation Without Governance

Teams adopt AI and automation faster than security, privacy and human-oversight controls mature.

Inconsistent Delivery

Different teams solve the same problem differently, creating avoidable risk and rework.

Assurance Gaps

Procurement, security, accessibility or regulatory expectations surface late and slow delivery.

Unproven ROI

Transformation programmes struggle to show what changed because the baseline was never measured.

From diagnosis to controlled transformation.

We combine consulting, technology and AI capability without assuming every problem needs a new platform or an autonomous agent.

Evidence-Led Discovery

Map workflows, systems, data, constraints and stakeholder needs before recommending change.

AI & Automation

Design practical automation around real work, with human oversight and proportionate controls.

Process & Operating Model

Clarify ownership, handoffs, exceptions, governance and the operating model needed to sustain improvement.

Technology & Data

Rationalise platforms, improve integration and data visibility, and avoid unnecessary tool duplication.

Governance & Assurance

Build security, privacy, accessibility, supplier and AI assurance into delivery instead of adding it at the end.

Measured Transformation

Set an agreed baseline, model assumptions transparently and measure outcomes without unsupported savings claims.

Social value & commitments

Technology should improve organisations without leaving people behind.

Our commitments sit alongside delivery, not behind it: accessible employment, responsible technology, ethical AI, privacy and measurable social value.

Explore our commitments

Accessible & inclusive employment

Disability Confident Employer (Level 2), alongside accessible recruitment, reasonable adjustments and neuroinclusive working practices.

Responsible technology

Digital-first delivery, technology efficiency, responsible sourcing and proportionate environmental practices without unsupported net-zero claims.

Ethical AI

Human accountability, impact assessment, privacy safeguards, worker-impact review and controls against excessive autonomy or harmful deployment.

Social value

Inclusive employment, carers and family-friendly working, care-leaver opportunity, social mobility and community-focused commitments.

How We Work

Start with the decision and evidence, not a pre-selected tool.

01

Frame the decision

We clarify the business outcome, stakeholders, constraints, risks and evidence needed before recommending a service or technology.

02

Discover the current state

We map workflows, systems, data, handoffs, exceptions and pain points using the access and evidence available—including legacy or partially accessible environments.

03

Prioritise value and risk

We distinguish quick wins from structural change, model assumptions transparently, assess security/privacy/AI risk and agree what should happen first.

04

Deliver and verify

We implement or advise on the agreed change, document decisions, support users, verify deployment and measure outcomes against the agreed baseline.

Outcomes should be measurable, not promised in advance.

We define intended outcomes against your baseline and validate what changed after delivery. Illustrative opportunities are not treated as guaranteed savings.

Release Skilled Capacity

Measure where repetitive administration, coordination and rework consume time before deciding what should change.

Better Decision Evidence

Create a reliable view of systems, workflows, constraints and assumptions so leaders can make defensible transformation decisions.

Improve Operational Throughput

Reduce avoidable handoffs and bottlenecks while preserving quality, control and human judgement where needed.

Improve Data & Process Quality

Introduce clearer ownership, validation and workflow controls that reduce duplication, ambiguity and inconsistent execution.

Support Adoption

Design change around real users, responsibilities and exception paths rather than assuming technology adoption will happen automatically.

Make Outcomes Visible

Agree a baseline, define success measures and track whether the transformation actually delivered the intended value.

Transformation Examples

Illustrative scenarios show how we would frame and validate improvement. They are not fabricated customer results.

View case-study approach

Illustrative scenario: Enterprise operations

Before

Multiple teams re-keying the same information across disconnected systems

After

A redesigned workflow removes duplicate handoffs and creates clearer ownership

Validation basis

Measure cycle time, rework, exception volume and staff effort from the agreed baseline.

Illustrative scenario: Multi-academy trust

Before

Administrative reporting assembled manually across schools and shared services

After

Standardised data flows and controlled automation reduce repetitive preparation work

Validation basis

Measure reporting effort, error rate, approval time and exception handling before and after.

Illustrative scenario: Recruitment business

Before

CRM duplication and inconsistent follow-up reducing pipeline visibility

After

Cleaner process rules and monitored automation improve operational consistency

Validation basis

Measure duplicate rate, follow-up timeliness, reporting effort and progression from the agreed baseline.

Where should AI or automation actually be used?

Use our opportunity assessment to structure the problem before buying another tool. It helps you think about workflow friction, data, repeatability, risk, human judgement and measurable value.

  • Identify repetitive and high-friction work
  • Separate automation opportunities from process problems
  • Consider security, privacy and human-oversight requirements
  • Create a stronger baseline for a business case

Martin Raeburn

Founder, Raeburn Consulting

Raeburn Consulting is built around a simple principle: understand the real operating environment before recommending technology, AI or organisational change.

The consultancy combines strategy, transformation, technology and operational thinking with specialist depth in recruitment operations and an expanding enterprise, public-sector and education practice.

Why Raeburn Consulting?

Evidence before tooling: We diagnose the workflow, systems, data and decision before choosing a platform or automation route.

Technology independence: We can work across modern SaaS, cloud, CRM/ATS, bespoke and legacy environments without pretending one vendor fits every client.

Governance built in: Security, privacy, accessibility, supplier risk, AI controls and human oversight are part of delivery—not an afterthought.

Measured transformation: We prefer agreed baselines, explicit assumptions and verified outcomes to unsupported headline savings.

Common Questions

Clear answers about how we work.

Where can Raeburn Consulting help?

We work across AI and automation, technology and platforms, data and intelligence, operations, growth, recruitment operations, public-sector transformation and venture/startup support. Engagements range from focused diagnostics to larger transformation programmes.

What systems and platforms do you work with?

We are technology-neutral and work with a broad range of CRM, ATS, ERP, cloud, automation, data, productivity and bespoke systems. Where a direct API or native integration is unavailable, we assess alternative integration, controlled export/import, workflow or human-in-the-loop approaches rather than forcing a platform change.

Do you work with organisations of all sizes?

Yes. We support smaller independent organisations, growing teams, mid-market businesses, enterprise environments and public-sector bodies. Scope is based on the complexity, value and risk of the problem rather than an arbitrary employee-count ceiling.

Will AI replace our people?

Our approach is to use AI and automation where they reduce repetitive work, improve visibility or support better decisions while retaining human accountability where judgement, context, risk or client approval matters. We do not position AI as universally autonomous or infallible.

Bring us the problem, not a pre-selected solution.

We will help you frame the decision, identify the right discovery route and determine whether AI, automation, technology change or operating-model improvement is actually justified.

No commitment. No requirement to buy a particular technology.
